Hot water cylinder leaking

Hot water cylinders over time can start leaking from the pipework, immersion heater or worse case scenario a split in the tank. Most small leaks can be repaired by a plumber.

No hot water

If the hot water tank has stopped giving hot water there could be a few things wrong. It could be the immersion heater thermostat, a fault with the shower unit or taps or even a problem with the gas boiler.

Immersion heaters

All water heaters have a immersion that heats up the water. Over time the heating elements can develop a fault by the copper pipe inside cracking, these can easily be replaced.

Cold water tanks

All copper hot water cylinders are connected to a cold water tank in the loft. The main fault with water storage tanks are the ball valve not shutting off or the stopcock not working.

Thermostat

All hot water tanks have a thermostat that controls the temperature of the water. A sign that there is a fault is that there is no hot water coming from the tap or the water is boiling hot. You must turn the hot water tank off and contact a plumber.
