Signs of problems

Electric showers can develop a few different problems. The most common is the shower running hot and cold even when the shower dial is turned up high.

There is no hot water coming out the electric shower and the taps are all working.

Water dripping from the bottom of the shower.

If you have any of these problems you will need an experience plumber to diagnose the problem to either repair or recommend a new electric shower replacement.

Common problems

The water is tepid, or there is just not enough power in the shower

This problem could be down to the electric shower micro switch or the element has burnt out.

Water going hot and cold

This could be a water pressure problem in the house or a faulty flow switch.

No hot water at all

An electric shower running totally cold could be by a thermal cutout if the shower is over-heating constantly,

Leaking from the bottom

This may be because the PRD (Pressure Relief Device) has activated caused by a blockage in the shower or shower head.

No water at all

This is the most common fault with electric showers - the solenoid valve. If you find the shower stops working completely, or indeed cuts off this is the culprit. It is usually the coil that breaks down.
