Water heaters information
Copper cylinders
If you have an old hot water heating system you probably have a copper hot water heater. These cylinders are normally found in older houses. Copper water heaters can still be repaired and installed but they are not as economical as the more modern water heaters.
The most common faults of a copper water heater breakdown is the immersions burning out or not having enough water pressure to cope with a modern home that has more than one bathroom.
Our team of Romford hot water cylinder plumbers can repair any copper cylinder model you have.
Thermal hot water cylinders
A thermal hot water cylinder that can be fitted anywhere in the property and are mainly found in flats as they do not need to have safety pipes run to an outside wall.
A thermal store works by heating the water inside, it heats the cold mains water through a heat exchanger to give you constant hot water throughout the day and the hot water pressure is at mains pressure. The hot water will last longer in these tanks than in copper cylinders or unvented water heaters.
Thermal hot water heaters like Gledhill A class and Pulsacoil 2000 are normally run on Economy 7. Economy 7 comes on late at night at a cheaper electricity rate. If the hot water runs out during the day there is a booster button on the Economy 7 to reheat the water inside the cylinder.
Our Romford hot water cylinder plumbers can repair, service and install all thermal hot water cylinder models.
Unvented water heater
The modern day hot water heater is an unvented water heater and it has replaced the old fashion copper cylinder because they hold the hot water longer and give you mains pressure at your taps which is fantastic if you have multiple bathrooms.
You can have an unvented water heater cylinder heated up through a system gas boiler or just by electricity through the immersions and timer.
Unvented water heaters do need servicing every 12 months as there are safety devices on the heaters that need checking to make sure they are functioning properly.
Our Romford unvented water heater plumbers are logic certificated to work on all brands of unvented water heaters, such as Heatrea Sadia, Megaflo, OSO, Ariston, Vaillant, Gledhill A Class, Pulsacoil 2000 and Santon.
Instant hot water units
Instant hot water units are small electric showers or tanks either under or over the sink. These heat a small amount of water quickly and are mostly found in catering vans or portable toilets and are not suitable for the domestic use.
