Gas cooker installation requirements

Before any new gas hob / cooker is fitted there needs to be a few checked to make sure the gas hob can be fitted safely.

The area around where the new gas hob will be installed is called the “hot zone”. It is inspected to make sure there are no combustible materials in the space like power sockets, loose wallpaper, shelves or kitchen cupboards. There must be a 750mm clearance above the gas hob and 50mm to the sides.

For the gas hob / gas cooker installation it will need to have adequate ventilation i.e. an openable window to the outside or an extractor fan, that meets the requirements for the new gas hob / cooker.

If these requirements are not met, we will be unable to complete the installation.
