Common taps & problems

Taps leaking

Taps start leaking purely down to wear and tear as they are the most common plumbing used in the home. If your kitchen tap will not stop dripping or your basin or bath taps are leaking from the joints then by replacing the washer on the hot/cold tap will normally resolve this problem.

Constant drip

If your kitchen tap has a constant drip coming out the spout this is normally caused by a faulty cartridge. If you know the model of the tap a replacement can be fitted

Tap handle not turning

If your tap handle is becoming stiff to turn on/off this could be caused by limescale inside the cartridge which will eventually cause the tap to seize. A tap cartridge can be fitted or a new tap replacement might be needed.

Low water pressure

If your having water pressure problems from your tap or there is no water coming out of the tap at all this could be a problem with the gas boiler or hot water cylinder you will need to get a Romford plumber to diagnose this problem

Isolation valves

Every kitchen tap, bath tap, basin tap or electric showers should have a hot and cold isolation valve on to be able to turn the tap off in a emergency or for general maintenance, sometimes these water valves can stop working or start leaking so will need replacing
