Water heaters information
Copper water tanks
Copper hot water cylinders are the old fashioned hot water cylinders mostly found in older houses. These water heaters can still be installed and repaired but are not very economical to run.
The most common problems with these tanks are the immersions not working, low water pressure or the ball valve failing in the tank above.
Our Hornchurch plumbers can repair, install or service any copper water cylinder old or new.
Thermal hot water cylinders
Thermal hot water cylinders such as Pulsacoil or Gledhill are mostly found in old and/or new flats. These water cylinders can be installed anywhere in a flat as they do not require an outside safety valve.
The water tank heats the water inside. It heats the mains water through a heat plate so you have mains water pressure on your taps and showers. You also have constant hot water.
The downside to these water heaters is that there is a lot that can go wrong with them. They are expensive to repair or replace. We recommend you have them checked every year as they are prone to leaking from the immersions.
At Aqua Plumbing we repair, service and install new installations of all makes and models of thermal stores.
Unvented water heater
Unvented water heaters like Megaflo, OSO, Vaillant, Santon and/or Gledhill are the modern water heaters used in homes replacing the old copper cylinder style tank. Unvented water heaters use mains water. They give more pressure and a better flow rate out of your taps and showers. They are more economical to run.
These water tanks come as indirect or direct. An indirect water tanks is connected to a gas boiler.
Unvented water heaters are very reliable but you should still have them serviced yearly to make sure the safety devices are working correctly and the unit is not leaking water.
Instant hot water units
Instant hot water heaters can either be an electric shower that you can have in the bathroom or a small water unit under or over a sink, these mostly used in offices or catering.
