Common taps & problems
Taps leaking
Most problems with taps are that the washers, seals or cartridges fail due to wear and tear causing the tap to constantly drip or start leaking from the base. Replacing these parts can resolve the problem.
Constant drip
If your kitchen, basin or bath tap is dripping from the spout this could be caused by a faulty cartridge not shutting off properly, if you know the model and make of tap these parts can be replaced.
Tap handle not turning
Are the handles on the taps stiff or not shutting off properly or loose. This is can be caused by a worn cartridge and will need replacing.
Low water pressure
If you are experiencing low water pressure problems from the tap this can be caused by limescale build up in the tap causing a blockage or a fault with the boiler or hot water cylinder.
Isolation valves
Every tap in the home should have an isolation valve fitted. This enables easy maintenance or in case of an emergency enable you to turn off the water supply. These valves can stop working or seize up if not used for a while so should be checked and replaced if required.
