I have used Danny a fair few times now to perform Gas Cert at tenanted properties. I do not live anywhere near the properties and the service I have received from Danny and all at DJC has been fantastic. Gas boiler servicing is an essential way of making sure your gas boiler is working correctly and safe for your family to use.

During the Ideal boiler check the boiler will go through safety checks using testing equipment to make sure all the readings are correct and that the safety devices are operating properly.

Having your boiler service annually can pick up on any small problems and the boiler can be repaired or parts replaced before the problem gets bigger and gives you an expensive repair bill.

A gas safety certificate is a legal requirement for anyone who rents out a property. These gas checks are to test all the gas appliances in the property to make sure they are working correctly and are safe to use.

All out Ideal gas checks are carried out by fully qualified Gas Safe engineers and to Gas Safety standards.

We also offer a reminder service so your annual Gas Safe certificate does not expire without you knowing.

What’s in a Ideal boiler service

Inspection of the boiler, Case & Flue

Checking seals around the boiler, looking for corrosion, leaks and any flue damage.

Flue gas analyser test

Flue gas analysis is done by inserting a probe into the flue of a boiler.

Gas rate / Operating pressures

Make sure the gas appliance is using the correct about of gas.

Check pumps / Valves / Pipework

Make sure valves are operating correctly and no leaks on pipe work.

Safety devices on the appliances

Make sure safety devices work in case the gas appliance fails.

Check heating controls

Check timers, thermostats, programmers and TRV on radiators.

Check for Carbon monoxide

Make sure the CO2 alarm is working in case carbon monoxide is leaking from the appliance.

Clean magnetic filters

This is a filter on the heating return pipe that needs cleaning yearly.

Bleed radiators

Bleed radiator and make sure there is no air in the heating system.

Check list certificate

Issue customer with check list of all the checks that have been carried out on the boiler.

Ideal most common faults

Boiler leaking

A boiler leaking is normally a minor problem, i.e superficial holes within the pipework caused by the water pressure being too high, However, sometimes a boiler leaking can be a sign of a more serious issue like corrosion to the heat exchanger or mechanical parts.

Low Boiler Pressure

Low water pressure on your gas combination boiler can be caused by a leak within the boiler or the heating system. Losing pressure can cause your boiler to stop working. If it is the boiler leaking it will need to be repaired before it causes expensive damage.

Boiler Kettling/Noisy Boiler

If your boiler is making noises if could be a build up of limescale deposits on the heat exchanger causing the boiler to overheat and produce steam, bubbling or a whistling noise, a boiler service / maintenance and adding a inhibitor should resolve this problem.

No Heating or Hot Water

If the boiler is giving you hot water but no heating the first thing is to check that the thermostat is turned up, the radiator valves are turned on and the heating is switched on at the boiler / programmer. If all looks ok there could be a faulty part i.e the diverter valve not working or stuck.

Radiator Faults

Faulty radiators that are not heating properly or cold spots either at the top or bottom of the radiator can be caused by faulty radiator valves, sludge at the bottom of the radiator or they just need bleeding

Hot water not hot enough

If your hot water is running lukewarm or fluctuating hot and cold from all the taps and showers this could be caused by a blocked heat plate, thermostat or diverter valve and will need to be diagnosed.

Frozen Condensate Pipe

The condensate pipe is responsible for the removal of acidic waste from the boiler to the outside drains. If the pipe is external in the winter they can freeze up causing the boiler to stop working, insulating the pipe or running it inside can stop this.

Thermostat not Responding

In most homes the gas boiler heating is operated by a external thermostat / programmer, if your thermostat has stopped responding look at the obvious things first like the batteries and/or wifi.

Hot Water Doesn't Work Heating Does?

If your central heating is working but the hot water is not this could be caused by a faulty diverter valve either inside the boiler or external in the hot water tank cupboard, replacing the diverter valve with resolve this problem.

No Power to Boiler

If there is no power to the boiler but there is power to the rest of the home isolate the boiler and check the fuses. If it on a plug or fuse board see if it has tripped, if all looks ok there could be a problem with the PCB inside the boiler and will need investigating.
