What is a gas boiler service

A gas boiler service is a safety check on the boiler that should be carried out annually to make sure the boiler is safe for you and your family to use.

During the boiler service the gas engineer will check the parts in the boiler and the safety devices to make sure they are running and operating properly.

Having the boiler checked annually can pick up small problems before they turn into expensive boiler repairs or prevent the boiler or gas appliance becoming dangerous.

Who should carry out the service

The gas boiler service should be carried out by a competent gas safe engineer who is on the Gas Safe register.

It is illegal for anyone who is not registered to work on a gas appliance, all qualified engineers carry an ID card that you can check.
